 My grandfather used to keep these, I got in trouble once for accidentally tipping most of a can of bicarb-of-soda into their feed... apparently the chemicals in a pigeon's crop (where it keeps food for regurgitation to chicks) react badly to the stuff and causes them to explode.
It does give you ideas though, in a sadistic kind of way. I just hope that these guys don't meet somebody who knows that  FN! -- "So he... wait, what the heck are you doing?" "Spog." "S-wha?"
